The idea for the book was born when I was confused. Every 90s kid as we call ourselves, grew up in a culture where our parents were conservative but we were thrown into this modern world of pop culture, cellphones, apps like Instagram-Facebook and more opportunities to witness the western world. We have seen a dynamic shift in ways of life, styles of earning, rise of new types of jobs, choice of careers and partners and just a more open minded way of life. Where does arranged marriages fit into this evolving modern Indian scenario.
Arranged marriages are an age old tradition followed religiously for thousands of years. This culture of marry a stranger, commit before you fall in love seems absurd to most of the current day youngsters but? Did your ancestors know something we did not? Inspite of the evolving modernity in India, arranged marriages are religiously followed, infact a 95% of marriages are arranged marriages.
What makes a person go for it? Why do people go for it in this 21st century? How do they get their ‘Happily ever after’ through this path?
I took a plunge into this system to find out.
